Somalia has not yet acceded to the Harare Protocol and therefore Somalia cannot be designated in an ARIPO application.

No national patents can currently be filed due to the state of unrest in the region, therefore the filing and processing of patent applications is currently on hold.

Formal examination is conducted.

The patent has a duration of 15 years from the date of filing, with no possible extensions.

Maintenance fees / Renewal fees
Annual maintenance fees are payable from the first anniversary of the filing date.
