Multi-class applications are not possible: 1 application covers 1 trademark in 1 class
Informal search: 4 – 5 business days.
Formal search: 1 – 2 weeks.
From filing up to registration: 6 – 8 months.
Opposition period: 60 days from publication.
Duration: 10 years from filing date and renewable for further periods of 10 years
The informal search is done in an internal database of published trademarks.
The formal search is conducted directly in the official trademarks register.
Applications are examined as to formal requirements only then published for opposition purposes.
If no opposition is filed, the application is examined for substantive requirements.
Accepted applications are registered and a registration certificate is issued.
Every 5 years from filing, a declaration of use must be filed confirming use of the trade mark.
