Filing Requirements

Power of Attorney
Required upon filing. Must be filed within 3 months of the date of filing.

Specification, claims, drawings and abstract
The specification, claims, drawings and abstract are required on the day of filing. If the documents are filed in English, a French or Arabic translation of these documents must be filed within 3 months of the filing date.

Deed of Assignment
A Deed of Assignment and a French translation thereof, must be filed within 3 months of the filing date.

Priority Document (if applicable)
(if applicable) Together with a verified French translation, must be filed within 3 months of the filing date.

Further Information

Deadlines
31 months from earliest priority date for entering national phase under PCT.

Examination
Substantive examination must be requested at the time of filing.

Duration
The patent has a duration of 20 years from the date of filing or the PCT International filing date, with no possible extensions.

Maintenance fees / Renewal fees
Annual maintenance fees are payable from the first anniversary of the filing date or from the PCT International filing date. Excess claim fees are payable for more than 10 claims. These fees are payable at the time of filing.
