Filing Requirements

Power of Attorney
Must be notarised and filed within 4 months of the date of filing.

Specification, claims, drawings and abstract
The specification, claims, drawings and abstract are required upon filing with a French translation.

Deed of Assignment
(or a notarised copy thereof) Must be filed within 4 months of the date of filing.

Priority Document (if applicable)
(if applicable) Together with a verified French translation, which must be filed within 6 months of the filing date.

Further Information

Deadlines
30 months from earliest priority date for entering national phase under PCT.

Examination
Formal examination is generally conducted however some applications are subjected to substantive examination.

Duration
The patent has a duration of 15 years from the date of filing or the PCT International filing date, with a possible extension of a further 5 years.

Maintenance fees / Renewal fees
Annual maintenance fees are payable from the second anniversary of the filing date or from the PCT International filing date.  There is a 6-month grace period to pay the maintenance fees. Excess fees are payable for specifications in excess of 20 pages and for more than 10 claims. These fees are payable at the time of filing.
