Must be filed within 2 months of the filing date.

Specification, claims, drawings and abstract
The specification, claims, drawings and abstract are required on the day of filing in French or English.

Together with a French translation (no set deadline).

Formal examination is conducted.

Duration
The patent has a duration of 20 years from the date of filing, with no possible extensions.

Maintenance fees / Renewal fees
Renewal fees are payable from the first filing date. Subsequent renewal fees are due every 5 years on the 5th, 10th and 15th anniversaries of the filing date. There is a 6-month grace period to pay the renewal fees.
