Trademark Application Requirements
Full names of the applicant.
Nationality of the applicant.
Physical and postal address of the applicant.
Mark classification.
Signed Power of Attorney.
Certified copy of priority document, if priority is to be claimed.
*Portuguese translation required
Submissions
The mark must be affixed in black and white on the space reserved on the trademark application form.
3 Additional copies of the mark in black and white, no larger than 9cm x 9cm.
If color is claimed, 5 additional color reproductions of the mark, no larger than 9cm x 9cm.
Trademark Requirements
The mark must be new and original.
The mark must be used in trade.
Trademark Classification
Nice Classification - the International classification of goods and services apply.
Trademark Duration
As long as a trademark is renewed and used in trade, it can last forever.
Trademark Renewals
A registered trademark is valid for 10 years from the date of application.
A registered trademark is renewable every 10 years.
TRADEMARK LICENSING
The trademark owner (licensor) grants another party (licensee) permission or authorization to use the registered trademark. This is an agreement between the two parties and may require the licensee to pay the licensor royalties. License agreements must be recorded.
